  • Fascinating—thanks for sharing your amazing photos. Am I correct in assuming this ghost town is a state museum or otherwise protected in some way? Seems like it’d have to be, else all those neatly arranged cans and bottles would’ve been all shot up by now.

  • Yes, the state runs the park now, but it’s funded in part (though probably not wholly) by use fees charged per person, all of which supposedly go to the park itself rather than into the general fund. And much of the items inside the buildings are period wares donated to the park itself, but weren’t found there. But it was a photographer’s heaven.

    I’m definitely not done with Glacier NP, either. That place is amazing.

    Garnet is NOT run by the State! It is managed by the Bureau of Land Management and all fees do stay right in town.
